Fruits of the Harvest 2010
Saturday, October 9, 2010

You may start bringing your donations up to church beginning October 3, and until October 8. Contact Susan Cyr to make other arrangements.

Fruits of the Harvest (F.O.T.H.) is Saint Timothy’s biggest fundraising event to benefit our Outreach causes. It is also a FUNraising evening with a theme, a silent auction, raffles, a catered dinner on the patio, music, decorations and  fellowship that gets nearly 200 guests to have a good time as we do the serious work of raising funds for those in great need.  In addition to the silent auction, we will have some live fundraising opportunities where you could win big without having to spend a lot.

In the past thirteen years, Fruits of the Harvest events have raised more than $300,000 for charitable organizations on a global, national, and local level. Our Outreach Committee has selected the following beneficiaries for 2010:

  • The Gretta Foundation -  Our global beneficiary provides four year nursing scholarships and a stipend for impoverished women in Uganda and Malawi, with their commitment to help in rural villages that are without healthcare.
  • The Sentinels of Freedom - Founded in Danville and now working in many states, our national beneficiary gives life changing scholarships along with community help for severely wounded U.S. veterans.
  • Loaves and Fishes of Contra Costa County -  Our local beneficiary has provided 3.4 million free nutritious meals to those in need for over 25 years.

One of the criteria for selecting a recipient is whether or not the amount that we send them will make a significant impact.  We have heard reports from representatives of all of these organizations about how our F.O.T.H. contributions have made such a difference in the lives of the people they help.  Check out the links to our beneficiaries' websites on this home page.

Once again, the team of Leslie Firth and Susan Cyr are launching this 14th Annual Fruits of the Harvest event. You can see us on Sundays after church.

Volunteers and Donors - We cannot do this without your help, so please look for the big bulletin board on the Patio to see where you can help us with your talents and auction donations so that we may meet our goal of raising what we can to better the lives of all our beneficiaries.

We are now high-tech! We are very excited about all the new tools we have to improve the management of F.O.T.H. and the experience of our donors and attendees.  On this website you can register for the event  as well as sign up for donations, and you'll get receipts by email. The all new catalog we will hand out at the event will include descriptions of the auction items, something we’ve never been able to do before. This year, we will need our donors to provide information on their donation well in advance; otherwise, their donation will not be included on the website or the brochure. And don’t worry if all the web/internet stuff makes you feel like a fish out of water. You’ll still be able to register and signup for your donations at the bulletin board just as you always have, on Sundays after church.
